Saint Seiya, penned by the renowned manga artist Masami Kurumada, debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump on January 1, 1986, and continued through 1990. Among its many story arcs, the Twelve Temples saga (1986–1988) is widely regarded as a pinnacle of the series—elevating Saint Seiya to legendary status in the world of Japanese manga and anime.
